Detectives from the Wallkill Police Department arrested 38-year-old Amy Wase at her home at approximately 5:30 p.m. on Friday, June 22, officials announced over the weekend.
Police said that an investigation into Wase determined that she had allegedly fraudulently cashed checks at several banks in the area, leading to her arrest. Wase was charged with criminal possession of stolen property, criminal possession of a forged instrument, grand larceny and first-degree identity theft.
Following her arraignment, Wase was released on her own recognizance and she is due back in the Town of Wallkill Court at a later date to answer the charges.
